Pay close attention, this must be the secret of many dreaming hairs circulating out there: pre-poo. We have all learnt that shampooing can cause some damage to the hair – especially if you are still using the ones containing sulfates. The cleansing effect that shampoo brings, also comes with some sort of harm, especially because just the water itself is already “steeling” some protein from our hair.
To minimize these effects there is a very simple and efficient technique which brings some nutrition to the hair, helping the proteins to stay inside of the strands. It might be also very helpful in controlling frizz and volume, and decreasing the amount of “greasy” oil for the oily kind of hair. There are indeed many ways of doing a good pre-poo, but what we want to teach you today is this very natural and easy way. The product? Vegetable Oil! – believe it if you can!
The oil works in this process as a conditioning step, before the shampooing, but it does not discard the use of conditioners or hair masks after the shampoo. It is true that all products applied to the hair will be washed out after the shampoo is rinsed, so it might be hard to get the point of doing this. What I can say is, you might want to protect your hair and prepare it for the sometimes “aggressive” effects of shampooing, right?
The process is as simple as it sounds. You just have to be sure that you are not using any vegetable oil, since some of them do not penetrate in the hair strands, due to its fatty acid polyunsaturated structure – for example, grape seed oil.
